The Walk
I had a late night where I had trouble sleeping
So I put on my slippers when I heard a beeping.
Oh it’s a girl I used to date.
“Hello” I answer…no sound.
Hello! All I can hear is their shoes tapping the ground.
I hang up and continue outside.
It’s a nice night, the moon is full and the stars fill the wondrous sky.
A slight breeze sends chills down my back and I don’t know why.
I feel a sense of emptiness inside.
My walk didn’t always seem so lonely
I once had a young hunny.
She would walk beside me each night
Until our dreadful fight.
I lost her to a past love
Now I walk alone and look to the skies above.
Will she ever return to me?
Holding my hand as we walk by the sea.
Crashing waves, the sound of the water
And then another caller.
It’s her, The One, My Baby.
I wonder why she’s calling me.
I take my time answering her
Because I was in shock.
I rest on my special rock.
And say hi
I hear her begin to cry.
I wonder why she’s upset
It’s her man I bet.
Finally she calms down enough to speak
She informs me she’ll be here next week.
I tell her she’s welcome to come by
And once again she starts to cry.
She won’t tell me why
And rushes our goodbye.
Excitement fills my body
I get to see my hottie.
Beautiful without a doubt
If you know what I’m talking about.
Miss universe doesn’t compare
Her beauty is rare.
Brains and beauty are a difficult find
But for a period she was mine.
Can this be my second chance?
Will she take a dance?
I’ll make sure it’s one to remember
I can’t wait for her.
